Nikolai Smirnov exhibition

For the first time in Moscow will be shown  masterpieces by Nikolai Nikolaevich Smirnov 

On 23-27 April Art Moscow Fair will present the project  «Historical Still-lives by Nikolai Smirnov. Private collection» where 20 his paintings — one third of the artist's heritage will be on display.  The curator of this show is Leonid Shishkin,  founder of one of the oldest and most respectable galleries in Moscow  and an expert in the field of Russian painting of the XIX–ХХ centuries. 

Nikolai Smirnov (1938–2005) — is an outstanding artist, who excelled in the genre which he called a «historical theatre of objects».

one has to stretch him or herself to his or her maximum, he needs to
reflect, to get deep inside his or her being, only then the most
important will happen. I am not offering to my spectator any easy delights^ what i offer is a saving torture".
